Bandar Seri Begawan - The Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Hj Abdul Rahman, continued with a series of working visits to other departments under the ministry and conducted a visit to the Seri Begawan Religious Teaching University.
The visit began with a recital of the surah al-fatihah followed by a speech from the minister who said, "I think not only the citizens of this college, but also the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the country in general should be proud of KUPUSB for two reasons.
The first being that KUPUSB is the only centre for higher education at University level in this region on religious teaching.
Secondly, we should be proud because of the title 'Seri Begawan', which is very valuable for us as the late Sultan was the modern architect, founder of the constitution and Islamic education.
"There is a need for KUPUSB to operate with aspirations, among which, is to shoulder the religious education in the Sultanate as times have changed.
More knowledgeable and well-trained teachers are needed in this field especially those who possess high calibre and ICT proficiency.
This is meant to meet the needs of the Muslim community. The University should also aspire to be a strong support to the concept and philosophy of Islam in the constitution of the country.
Joining the delegation was Pengiran Hj Bahrom bin Pengiran Hj Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Hj Mohd Mandi bin POKDGSDDLU Hj Abdul Rahman, Permanent Secretary and other seniors officers.
Upon arrival, the Minister of Religious Affairs was welcomed and briefed by Dr Hj Abdullah bin Hj Lampoh, Acting, KUPUSB Raes. He later toured the various sections such as the ICT laboratory, Library, Mini Theatre, Publishing room and Male hostel. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
